The Beaver Lake Sail and Power Squadron is a social, civic, and educational organization dedicated to the safe and fun operation of boats on our waterways. Our local squadron is one of about 450 squadrons across the country which comprise the United States Power Squadrons® (USPS).

Founded in 1914, USPS® is the largest private, non-profit boating organization in the world. With over 50,000 members across the country and in Puerto Rico, USPS has educated over 4 million boaters in the last half-century.

The Beaver Lake squadron is comprised of approximately 100 members. Our membership includes sailors, power boaters, fishermen, PWC operators, and even people who do not currently own a boat but share our love of the water. You'll find most of our members boat on Beaver Lake.

Improving our boating skills and safety, and therefore our enjoyment, on the water is a primary goal of squadron members. Educational courses for members are taught by experienced instructors who are fellow squadron members. There are eleven courses taught in classroom-format, and another 20+ available for home study or on video.

Our dedication to boating education extends into our communities, where we traditionally conduct two safe boating courses each year for the boating public. Held at various locations throughout the Northwest Arkansas area, most classes have an average of from 10 -15 students.

Successful completion of the course is recognized by most insurance companies which results in a reduction in boat insurance. The course is also approved by NASBLA (National Association of State Boating Law Administrators), and meets the educational requirements for boat operation in all states. Successful completion of the course also qualifies you for squadron membership, offering you and your family a variety of social and community service activities.

Our monthly social activities allow for making and renewing friendships with others who share our love of the water. Our summer months are filled with rendezvous and water activities that take us to familiar places in and around Beaver Lake. As a member, you may also continue your boating education through advanced classroom instruction in subjects such as Seamanship, Sail, Piloting, Weather, Engine Maintenance, Cruise Planning, Marine Electronics, and Navigation, just to mention a few.
